Steps to Believe and Confess
The response to God's gift of salvation is both simple and personal: to believe in Jesus Christ and confess Him as Lord. This step marks the moment when faith moves from understanding to action, opening the door to forgiveness, new life, and fellowship with God.
Confessing Faith in Christ
The Bible gives clear instruction: "If you declare with your mouth, 'Jesus is Lord,' and believe in your heart that God raised him from the dead, you will be saved" (Romans 10:9). This confession is not mere words—it is a declaration of allegiance to Jesus and trust in His saving power. Scripture continues, "For it is with your heart that you believe and are justified, and it is with your mouth that you profess your faith and are saved" (Romans 10:10).
Those who come to Christ in faith can express this belief through prayer—acknowledging sin, affirming trust in Jesus' death and resurrection, and surrendering to His lordship.
Baptism: A Public Declaration
Baptism is the outward expression of the inward change that faith produces. The Apostle Paul writes, "All of us who were baptized into Christ Jesus were baptized into his death. We were therefore buried with him through baptism into death in order that… we too may live a new life" (Romans 6:3–4).
Jesus Himself commanded this step when He said, "Go and make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit" (Matthew 28:19). Baptism publicly identifies the believer with Christ's death, burial, and resurrection, signifying a life made new and joined to the family of God.
Living a Life Reflecting His Lordship
Belief and confession lead to a new way of life marked by obedience, gratitude, and transformation. Jesus said, "If you love me, keep my commands" (John 14:15). Living under Christ's lordship means depending on the Holy Spirit to produce godly character—"the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control" (Galatians 5:22–23).
Growth in faith is nurtured through regular prayer and Scripture reading (Psalm 119:105), fellowship and encouragement with other believers (Hebrews 10:24–25), and serving others in love (Mark 10:45). Followers of Jesus also continue His mission by sharing the gospel with others (Matthew 28:19–20).
Step 5 – Believe in your heart and confess with your mouth that Jesus Christ is Lord and you will be saved.
Salvation marks a new beginning—the start of eternal life and daily fellowship with God. As believers grow in faith, they walk in gratitude, serve in love, and live as witnesses of the transforming power of Christ.
If you're ready to accept Jesus Christ as your personal Lord and Savior, you can express your faith through prayer right now. God is waiting with open arms to welcome you into His family.
